Hi, I'm Jon Cai

Jon communicated with a diverse range of individuals as a part of his role, including students from varied backgrounds, as well as teaching, administrative and management staff.
During the transition of teaching and learning support to online during the COVID pandemic of 2020, Jon showed great flexibility and initiative in translating his on campus sessions into resources suitable for online delivery. In a remote work environment he maintained excellent communications and completed his role responsibilities in a timely manner. Jon demonstrated his capabilities as a student, role model and leader to the team and the greater University population. His sense of social and personal responsibility within his role contributed greatly to the learning success of others.

During Jon's time working at italki, I served as department manager for italki’s Services and Operations Department. At that time, italki was very small (less than 30 staff) and looking for service-minded support staff that would represent italki as the first point of contact. Jon excelled at this role. As he was an italki Teacher himself, he focused on addressing italki Teacher related issues. Jon is a natural “people-person” who always comes to work with a smile. He genuinely cares about the quality of his work, the people that he works with and most importantly our users and teachers. He would be an asset to any employer and I wholeheartedly recommend him to any endeavor that he wishes to pursue.

The things that stand out most to me about Jon's work over the years are his eye for excellence in design and detail, concern and compassion for the "user", and tendency to leave everything and everyone a little better than he found them.
Thanks to Jon's initiative, we were able to successfully choose, apply, and communicate website updates that improved design consistency, company brand image, and user experience for an online community marketplace of many thousands of customers.
Aside from his individual achievements, he is an enthusiastic and energetic "team player", and will quickly become a valuable member of any organization he joins.

I worked together with Jon in teacher services team at italki. Jon is a fun teammate to work with. I really enjoyed the time we worked together. He is detail-oriented and has the ability to handle customer relationship in an organised manner. When dealing with users, Jon showed his talent as a ‘diplomatist’, his politeness, honesty, and genuine care for people, enabling him to understand and communicate with users well. In addition, Jon initiated a teacher application process improvement plan on the website and enhanced the overall quality of teacher profile. He has a great eye for design and user experience as well. I recommend Jon for any role for user interaction and product.

I had the pleasure of working with Jon, and he was without a doubt one of the few people that was genuinely passionate about his job. Data driven, he always tries to find data or supporting evidence to support his claims rather than just through assumptions. Despite the many challenges of working in an international company, such as culture, language, etc., he always was able to make everyone feel valued. In addition, he could express himself clearly in both English and Chinese. He always took the time out of his day to help not just the customers, but his colleagues as well. His positive attitude and his dedication to improve himself day in and day out makes him a valuable asset to any company that picks him up.
